A Falling Sensation

On his day in 1797 André-Jacques Garnerin made the first ever silk parachute jump at Parc Monceau in Paris from a height of 900 metres (approx. 3,000 feet). On this day in 1965 the Rolling Stones released "Get Off My Cloud" in the UK. As Mark Twain said "History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme". Having reflected on that let's jump straight to today's pictures. have a pleasant weekend.

  3. A parachute, indeed. History should condemn Monsieur Garnerin for such a frivolous waste of good silk.

I hope at least that it was lace edged.

  4. Lol....Yes - not only lace trimmed but also in a delicate pink floral print. It's said that he was only trying to bring about a drop in the price of silk.
